Keezhayoor, Poonjai, and Arupadhi temple. Kumbakonam.

  1. Keezhayoor: Siva temple.


    The place is about 2kms from Semponar koil.


    Main Deity: Swayambu lingam known as Kadaimudinadhar and his consort known as Abhiramavalli amman.



    Sthala Vruksham: Kiluvai.



    Importance: Brahma worshipped and gained fame.



    Sambandhar sang hymns on Lord Siva.



  2. Poonjai: Siva temple



    This is one of 275 important ones.


    The place is about 6kms from Semponarkoil.



    Main Deity: Swayambu lingam known as Natrunanaiappar and his consort, Malaimaan madandhy amman. Teertham is Soorya teertham.



    Importance: Birth place of sambandhar mother.



    Sambandhar sang hymns on Siva.



  3. Arupadhi: Siva temple


    This is one of 275 Siva Devara Sthalam.


    The place is about 7kms from Adudhurai.


    Main Deity: Swayambu linga known as Thoraikattum vallalar and his consort known as Veurutholiamman.



    Teertham: Cauveri. Sthala Vrukasham: Vilamaram.



    Importance: Brahmin boy Arulvithan used to worship god with flowers which he used to get from his place and he crossed the river to reach the temple. One day river was flooding and he was struggling to cross with the flower basket in hand. He started shouting and asking him to help in reaching the shore. Siva showed the shore for him so the name Thoraikattum vallal. (thorai means shore)
