one of 275 Siva Devara Sthalam.
The place is known as Thiriu Karuveli, and temple as kottitai.
The temple is situated on the River bank of Arasalru, about 6 kms from Thiru Veezhimizhalai.
Main deity is huge Swayambu Lingam known as Sarguna Nadeswarar and his consort Sarguna Nayaki. Teertham is known as Yama teertham which is seen in front of the temple.
Lord Sarguneswarar helps one to get out of their Karma, hence the name Karuveli King Sarguna worshipped and was blessed by Lord Siva, hence the name Sarguneswarar for Lord Siva in this place.
Thiru Navakkarasar sang hymns on Lord Siva of this place.
